What is the recommended maintenance schedule for my caterpillar excavator parts?

Here are some general recommendations for caterpillar excavator parts maintenance:

Engine and air filters

Replace every 250-500 hours of operation. Clogged filters reduce performance and fuel economy.

Hydraulic filter

Replace every 500-1000 hours. The hydraulic filter keeps contaminants out of the hydraulic system.

Hydraulic oil

Replace every 500-2000 hours depending on operating conditions. Hydraulic oil breaks down over time and with heat/contamination.

Transmission/final drive oil

Replace every 500-2000 hours. Like hydraulic oil, the drives train oils degrade with use.

Fuel filter

Replace every 500-1000 hours. The fuel filter removes contaminants from the fuel system.

Coolant

Check level and test once a week and replace every 3 years or 6000 hours. Proper coolant level and condition is critical.

Complete tune-up

Every 500 hours, check and adjust valve clearances, fuel injection pump timing, etc. according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Hoses and seals

Inspect every 500-1000 hours and replace as needed. Hoses, seals, and gaskets can become damaged or worn over time.

Grease

Lubricate all fittings every 50 hours of operation or weekly. Grease lubricates and protects many components from moisture and wear.

Backup alarm, lights, controls, safety switches

Test weekly to ensure proper operation.

Tires

Check tire pressure, wear and condition weekly. Keep tires at the recommended pressure for optimum performance, safety, and maximizing tire life.
